The soap and perfumery Bernard was a French business specializing in the manufacture and distribution of hygiene products. Founded in 1836 and based in Rezé, it was best known under the brand Persavon.

Scholl (1921-1943) was a German student and revolutionary, active within the White Rose non-violent resistance group in Nazi Germany. She was convicted of high treason after having been found distributing anti-war leaflets at the University of Munich with her brother Hans. As a result, they were both executed by guillotine. Her last words were “Die Sonne scheint noch”—”The sun still shines.”
